Camel Dromedaries have a single hump which is a reserve filled with fat, not water. Camels can tolerate a rise in temperature of 12 degrees F and can survive a los of 40% of body weight without serious consquences.

Camels are known as the Ship of the desert and have been used by man for centuries as a beast of burden. Camels can travel 80-120 miles per day carrying a rider and don't like humans very much.

Fossils indicate that the camel family originated in North America but they exist today only in the domesitcated state in Africa and Asia with some introduced into Australia.
